It’s that time of year again where we get to make a wish list and spoil ourselves or the food photographers and food content creators in our lives rotten!

To take the pressure off finding the perfect present, I’ve curated a gift guide ideal for food photographers, food content creators and food bloggers! I hope there’s something here that’s just right!

FOR THOSE WHO LOVE TO COOK

If you’ve spent any time on social media this year, you’ll have seen the Nama Juicer, the Beast Blender and the Always Pan. Not only do they make every cook’s life better, they also look mighty fine!

If functionality is high on the agenda and you’re also wanting kitchen gadgets that look ace in a Reel or food pic, then these three need to be on your Christmas list!

(I have the Beast in a light grey and the Always 2.0 pan in Spice. I don’t own the Nama Juicer YET, but it occupies the number one spot on my wish list this year!)

FOR THOSE EAGER TO LOOK STYLISH

Know someone who doesn’t only love their food photos looking good, but wants to look their best as well? Got a food photographer in your life who values style as much as they do comfort whilst they work on creating drool worthy food content? Then the Peakdesign everyday bag is a must! It fits everything you need from lenses, camera bodies, laptop and cables, neatly in one bag and it is my go-to bag for restaurant shoots and photoshoot on the go.

The Lezé the Lable Kendal trousers aren’t just gorgeous to look at but stretchy too, allowing you to move freely during shoots and have huge pockets for camera caps, mobile phones and other bits and pieces you need throughout a work day. I have them in 3 colours - pine, black and milk tea and love them all! Use the link below and get a $20 discount when you spend over $80!

FOR THOSE WHO LOVE THEIR GEAR

Having the right food photography gear can make the food content creation process that little bit more efficient and enjoyable! With videography now a must alongside photography, the gear needed has expanded well beyond just cameras, lenses and lighting. Here are some of the food photography and food videography gear I swear by (or dream of) and I know there’s a food photographer out there who will love to receive any or all of these from you this season. I’ve included items for every budget level and hope there’s something here that feels just right!

The Arkon Mounts camera stand is a MUST for recipe video content creators. It’s the best for overhead shots and can manage so many different angles it’s insane. Keep in mind, it’s not portable and really works best when capturing close up content. For those outside the US click below. For the US see here and use code TLPcreate for 20% off!

Have you ever lost, or thought you’ve lost all your work? If you have you don’t need me to tell you how it feels. If you haven’t, trust me when I say… BACK it UP! One of the easiest ways is to copy everything onto an external hard drive. I use this cute one by Lacie which has 2TB of space and is shock, drop and pressure resistant. Peace of mind!

If you’re thinking about doing more voice-overs you’ll need a good microphone. I am loving the professional grade Lavalier GO which is designed for use in a wide range of applications including filmmaking, broadcast, streaming and video calls. Elevate your Reels with great sound and give them that slightly more professional feel!

This little beauty is on my own wish list! The Sony Alpha 7II is a gorgeous, mirrorless camera with glowing reviews. If you’re looking to switch to mirrorless, I’d say this is the way to go.

for THOSE WHO SEEK SOMETHING FOR THE creative spirit

When I heard of Calm, a multi award-winning application that has been named “the world's happiest app'‘, I was super curious! Especially as it promises to help “find your calm” through relaxation, meditation and quality sleep.

Life can get so busy with all its to-do lists, overflowing inboxes and back to back calendar entries, that we sometimes forget to breathe! Being able to ground ourselves and truly relax can seem impossible. This little gem of an app offers an extensive library of guided meditations, Sleep Stories, breathwork, exclusive music and stretching exercises. It’s for everyone, beginners or seasoned experts.

Whether you want to start 2024 with mindfulness and intention, or want to help someone you care for unwind and de-stress, the Calm app is the perfect place to start!

If you prefer treating yourself or the buddying food photographer in your life to experiences rather than physical gifts, you can’t beat a course or workshop!

Choose between an in person workshop, or an online course for more flexibility.

With several online courses and a variety of in-person options too, you can find the perfect gift here at The Little Plantation. We also prepare gift vouchers to ‘wrap up’ for under the tree. Just get in touch and we can take it from there.

That’s all folks! Hope there’s something here that’s perfect for under the Christmas tree. Wishing you all a gorgeous festive period.
