8 LIGHT FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY LIGHTROOM PRESETS

It only took a crazy scary virus to force me to slow down and FINALLY create my light and bright food photography preset bundle for desktop especially for you! After the warm response to my essential Lightroom presets, which were aimed at those of you who love darker and moodier shots, I thought it would be helpful to put some presets together, which will give your images that lighter look. In fact, most of my food photography clients prefer lighter shots and the presets I’m sharing with you today have hence come in extremely handy when completing client work. As always, I like to go over and beyond for my tribe and consequently the bundle includes a few tiny little extras! Want to find out more? Then please read on…

WHY I CREATED MY 8 LIGHT FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY PRESETS FOR LIGHTROOM DESKTOP

As mentioned above, most of my food photography clients love brighter shots that put their products in the best possible light, showcasing beautifully how delicious, fresh and vibrant their foods are. I know that many of you are looking to work more with brands in the future and I wanted to put together a preset bundle that would allow you to inch closer towards your goals.

I know that many other bloggers create huge Lightroom preset bundles and as you can see this preset complication only includes 8. I did this because...

  1. I personally get really confused when I have too many choices. Do you as well? 8 lighter presets provide enough variety to ensure you can meet your own and client’s needs without feelings of overwhelm.

  2. These are the only lighter food photography Lightroom presets I actually currently use for my images on instagram as well as all my client work. Why so few? Because they work! Not much else needed!

  3. Only using a handful of Lightroom presets means you're able to create a more cohesive look on your instagram feed and food photography portfolio and all indications are that visual cohesion allows you to grow your instagram audience quicker and spread your message wider.

  4. As the presets are adjustable, my aim is to give you a starting point from which you can build and develop your very own signature visual brand.

  5. My goal is that owning my food photography Lightroom presets will allow you to finish your editing process quicker and free up time for you to spend making, shooting, styling and eating the food you create. All these things are heaps more fun, - I believe - than editing in front of a computer for hours on end.

FAQ ABOUT MY LIGHTER FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY LIGHTROOM PRESETS

WHAT ARE LIGHTROOM PRESETS?

Lightroom presets are similar to filters (as seen on instagram), only better. They save editing adjustments so that you can easily re-apply the same adjustments to multiple photos allowing you to create a branded, signature and cohesive photography look

WILL YOUR LIGHTROOM PRESETS WORK FOR NON-FOOD RELATED PHOTOGRAPHY?

These Lightroom presets have been specifically designed, tried and tested for food photography, however you might find they work for other types of shots too :).

WILL THESE LIGHTROOM PRESETS WORK WITH ARTIFICIALLY LITE FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY?

No! These presets have been designed for use in natural light situations only. They will not work if you use artificial lighting.

WILL EACH PRESET WORK ON EVERY SINGLE IMAGE?

Not necessarily, which is why you have 8 to play with! Some work better when you shoot warmer coloured foods like chocolates or pumpkins, others work better when you’re shooting foods that include cooler toned foods like berries and such. The accompanying HOW TO information will break everything down for you, so don’t even worry about it.

CAN I SEE IMAGES OF YOUR PHOTOS BEFORE YOU APPLIED THE TLP LIGHTROOM PRESETS?

Of course! You can see quite a few here and LOTS more in the documents accompanying the presets.

WILL THESE LIGHTOOM PRESETS WORK FOR IMAGES USING HARSH LIGHT OR TAKEN OUTDOORS?

The presets will be at their best if used for images shot indoors with natural light, soft or diffused light. They may not work as well for food images shot outdoors or images where harsh light comes into play.

DO I NEED TO OWN LIGHTROOM ON MY DESKTOP TO USE THESE PRESETS?

Yes! You will need to own Lightroom version 7.3 or higher on your desktop. The free Lightroom mobile editing app will not support these presets and neither will any other editing software like Capture One.

DO I NEED TO SHOOT MY IMAGES IN RAW TO USE YOUR LIGHTROOM PRESETS OR WILL THEY WORK ON JPEG IMAGES TOO?

The presets are at their best when used by those of you who shoot images in RAW. However, they can also be used if you're shooting your images in jpeg format.

WILL THESE PRESETS WORK ON ANY VERSION OF LIGHTROOM?

You’ll need the updated Lightroom Classic version for desktop or another version (from 2018 onwards!) that supports .xmp files. If in doubt, please message me.

IF I USE YOUR PRESETS WILL MY IMAGES LOOK EXACTLY LIKE YOURS?

Gosh I hope not! The TLP food photography Lightroom presets are the ones I currently use, however I hope that they will allow you to establish a look that you like and - from there - enable you to develop your own style.

WILL YOUR LIGHTROOM PRESETS 'FIX' A PHOTO I TOOK THAT DIDN'T COME OUT RIGHT?

No! Please remember, presets are there to take a correctly exposed and well composed food photography image from good to jaw droppingly gorgeous
